    What is closed captioning?

Closed captions are a textual representation of the audio within a media file. They make videos accessible to users who may not be able to hear audio, or for people who may be viewing a video in a setting where they do not want to play sound.

    How does it work?

If you have a video that you would like to add closed captions to, log in to your SpeakWrite Member Account, navigate to the Submit Job page and upload your video.

You will then see the option to add Closed Captions appear in the section titled “Customize Your Job”. Check the box to include closed captions in your video (otherwise you will only receive a transcript of the video).

When you have made your selections, just click Submit. You will then see a confirmation that your job has been submitted.

When your video has been transcribed, you will receive an email with the full transcript attached. You will also be able to download your original video with the closed captioning from your member dashboard under “Job Status”.

This feature is currently only available for MP4 file types, but if you have a different video file format that you would like to have closed captions added to, just let us know at support@speakwrite.com

How much does closed captioning cost?

There is no additional fee for adding closed captions to a video. You will be charged the regular SpeakWrite rate.
